On November 15, 2016, Dan Rubin was a guest speaker to the Business Law and Intellectual Property sections of the Bar Association of Northern San Diego County. Mr. Rubin spoke about the methods of valuing intellectual property and frequent challenges presented by uncertainty regarding legal threats, market opportunity, and technological breakthroughs. Mr. Rubin demonstrated how to best navigate these challenges to produce a logical and defensible valuation. Mr. Rubin relied on his IP valuation experience, and provided the group several case studies of recent engagements, including the valuation of novel biotech formulations, film rights, and patents on consumer goods.

Mr. Rubin provides valuation opinions and financial advisory services to organizations both domestically and globally. Mr. Rubin’s opinions are used for board, financial reporting and disclosure, litigation and tax purposes. His experience includes portfolio valuation, Monte Carlo simulations, private company valuation, intangible asset valuation, transaction advisory and the valuation of intellectual property. Mr. Rubin frequently guest lectures at the University of California, San Diego on matters regarding the valuation of private companies, synergies resulting from strategic acquisitions, and SEC rules regarding stock restrictions.

Mr. Rubin graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelors’ of Science in Management Science. He has been conferred the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst and is a member of the CFA Society of San Diego.
